Why should I contribute an article?

Whitetail Fanatic magazine was created to bring deer hunters together in a celebration of our sport. If you are a deer hunting enthusiast you already know that sharing your story with others is very gratifying. Seeing your story in print is always a positive and rewarding experience. We have many school age readers and sharing your story will help captivate their minds and ensure hunting’s heritage survives well into the future.

What do I get back from this?

Free 1 year subscription to Whitetail Fanatic. 2 free copies of the issue that your story appears in. (additional copies available at a reduced price.) These make great family heirlooms.

Do I have to be a pro writer?

To be perfectly frank, although good writing skills are somewhat helpful to us, they will NOT determine if your story is published. We base our decision on the subject matter within your story. All articles are edited by our staff multiple times for punctuation and grammar. Just write the story like you would if you were telling it to your hunting buddies, send it to us and we’ll do the rest!

Can I write about anything?

What we're looking for is material that tells the story of a deer hunting adventure. Successful hunts, first deer, trophy bucks, trophy doe harvests, humorous deer hunting stories, etc….

Do I have to give away my hunting location?

NO! In fact we discourage you from identifying your hunting location. We advise that you limit your location details to state, county or quadrant (EG: SE Illinois)

Can I send pictures with my stories?

Absolutely! We need pictures but they must be of decent quality. Sending good quality pictures will greatly enhance your chances of being published. If your picture is exceptional we may even use it on the cover.

Will my pictures be returned?

Yes, send us a SASE with your pictures and we will return them to you. Due to the amount of mail we receive it may take up to several months to catalogue your pictures and story and to return your pictures.

Do you accept digital pictures?

Yes, however we recommend that you follow the owner's manual for your digital camera and set it at its highest quality possible. Do not alter, resize or compact the file once they are converted to your computer.

Is there anything else I should know?

Yes, when submitting an article you are granting us legal consent to use said material in our magazine and on our website.
