Mossy Oak Lends Its Support To The Aiming For A Cure Foundation
At this year's March 15th Aiming for a Cure Event, Mossy Oak
came on board as a Platinum Sponsor.
The Aiming
for a Cure Foundation was established to raise funds to benefit
pediatric oncology patients and families served by Children's
Hospital of Iowa at the University of Iowa through research
and patient care. Each year a celebrity fundraising event
is held which includes sporting clays, upland bird hunting,
and an auction.
This year's
event, which raised over $155,000, brought the total monies
raised since the event began in 2004 to over $500,000 for
cancer research.
"We are honored to be a part of this worthwhile cause,"
said Tack Robinson, Public Relations Manager for Mossy Oak.
"We all look forward to the day when researchers find
a cure for this terrible disease. We are happy to do our part
to offer comfort to patients and their families while doctors
search for a cure."

RWS
.30-06 UNI 180-GRAIN LOAD DELIVERS EXTRA PENETRATION
Cartridge is Specifically Developed for Taking Medium to Large
Game
To
achieve the extra penetration hunters need to reliably take
tough, thick-skinned medium to larger game, RWS® engineers
have developed the .30-06 UNI 180-Grain cartridge that
ideally combines the desired attributes of delayed shock and
increased penetration.
RWS has
achieved these attributes in the UNI Classic bullet by constructing
it of two lead cores of different hardness - a softer lead
tip core which is united with a harder, heavier lead core
in the bullet's rear. This mating of the two cores is enclosed
by a nickel-plated jacket that becomes gradually thicker towards
the rear. The bullet's torpedo-shaped tail with its large
surface area improves the bullet's external ballistics by
lending a high degree of flight stability.
The heavy
tail core drives the bullet with a high degree of penetrating
force. The softer front section tends not to begin expansion
until after it has penetrated well inside the game animal.
This delayed shock effect makes the RWS UNI Classic bullet
much more effective on medium to larger game than conventional
hunting bullets.
In addition to combining the most wanted attributes in a hunting
bullet of combined shock effect and deep penetration, the
RWS .30-06 UNI 180-grain load features the benefit of limited
bullet fragmentation due to its double core construction.
At the
muzzle, the RWS .30-06 UNI 180 - grain load races out at 2,755
fps and generates 3,033 ft./lbs. of energy. At 100 yards,
this performer delivers 2,500 fps velocity and 2,498 ft./lbs.
energy. Even at 300 yards, this game-stopping load is rated
at 2,031 fps velocity and 1,649 ft./lbs. energy, more than
enough power needed to take larger game.
For more
information on the RWS .30-06 UNI 180-grain load visit www.fiocchiusa.com.
NEW
FARGASON TENT CHAIR BLIND CONDO
PROVIDES COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE FOR LARGE GAME HUNTERS
When planning
an important big game hunt, you'll always pack all of your
hunting essentials: rifle, range finder and Fargason Tent
Chair Blind Condo. Now you can enjoy the combined benefits
of camouflage and comfort with this amazing new hunting tool
(Model # 2008-2). Made to accommodate two adults, this blind
provides comfortable seating, hides you from game and controls
your scent.
There's
a good reason it's called a "condo." With an all-in-one
patented tent and chair combination, the Fargason Tent Chair
Blind Condo comes completely furnished with two full-sized
chairs - sporting armrests, a center table between chairs,
side gear pockets and cup holders - along with one-split,
front-zippered and four side windows. The windows come covered
in magnetized (i.e., "silent open"), bug resistant
camouflage netting. Plus, the chairs boast an advanced pivot
arm system and a heavy weight capacity - in fact, the blind
can accommodate up to 550 pounds of two big game hunters.
A black interior further conceals your movement and provides
zippered storage compartments for additional gear, while sturdy
tent stakes keep this blind securely on the ground.
Made to
take wind, rain and snow, the Fargason Tent Chair Blind Condo
can be purchased in a 3-D "Leaf" camouflage pattern,
sewn into the Mossy Oak New Breakup camo shell. Portable and
easy to set up in 10-15 seconds, this is the blind you'll
appreciate when you want to move quickly and silently to a
new water hole - just fold the Tent Chair Blind Condo down
and pack it out in its practical carrying case with an adjustable
shoulder strap. When you get to the new site, fold out the
chairs and pull the outer camo shell over for total concealment.
With this
unique hunting blind, you can capitalize on those once-in-a-lifetime
field opportunities, like seeing game up close and personal
- if you can get there before it does and make ready in the
condo, you'll soon be folding it up early and heading back
to camp with a trophy in tow. For more information about the
Fargason Tent Chair Blind Condo, or any of Fargason's other
revolutionary products, visit www.fargasonoutdoors.com

BioLogic®
and Cargill Animal Nutrition Announce Strategic Alliance
BioLogic,
an internationally recognized food-plot seed company, has
just entered into an agreement with Cargill Animal Nutrition
to co-endorse each other's products, including BioLogic food-plot
seed and Sportsman's Choice® Record Rack® Deer &
Elk Feed. Officials from both companies say that the partnership
underscores the value of incorporating food plots into a well-planned
management program. In turn, BioLogic realizes that supplemental
feeding enhances a year round nutrition program.
BioLogic and Cargill wanted to partner with the absolute best
in their respected industries to offer customers a whitetail
nutrition program like no others. Heidi Leef, brand manager
for Sportsman's Choice® Record Rack® feeds, said:
"Cargill Animal Nutrition is extremely excited to be
partnering with another leading wildlife nutrition company-
Mossy Oak BioLogic. With the Record Rack line gaining momentum
nationwide, it only made sense for us to work on educating
wildlife enthusiasts as a team. BioLogic food plots are a
wonderful compliment to our complete feed lines and round
out a 365-day a year program. They work hand in hand and will
help customers everywhere obtain the results they are looking
for. Our team is proud to be working with BioLogic and looks
forward to the success of both brands, and the success of
wildlife enthusiasts everywhere."
Al Cheatham,
President of BioLogic said: "We believe that Cargill
produces the absolute best when it comes to deer feed with
their Record Rack line-up of products. We also understand
that supplemental feeding may be necessary to nutritionally
give a deer herd everything they need. Between the superior
food plot products that BioLogic offers and the supplemental
feed choices that the Record Rack® line has we can now
offer a land manager a total program for whitetail nutrition
that is above and beyond anything that the rest of the industry
can provide."

Planting
Your Field Of Dreams
It's virtually
impossible to watch a hunting show or open a hunting magazine
today without something being mentioned concerning food plots
or land management. Most realize that TV and print articles
drive the American hunter and consumer. However, the majority
of these sources only give small one to two minute segments,
or a few paragraphs on the subject. Let's be realistic, food
plot installation cannot be summarized in a brief infomercial,
a single page article, or for that matter even a one-hour
DVD.
Finally,
there has been a DVD released that covers it all! Brad Lockwood,
owner and operator of BioLogic's North-Eastern Test Facility,
has created the most detailed instructional step-by-step food
plot creation video ever produced. This four-hour long DVD
gives instruction on removing evasive weeds and grass, applying
herbicides to your food plots and detailing which herbicides
to use, how to measure your food plot and the importance of
knowing the size of your food plot. It also includes in-depth
information and instruction for taking soil samples, creating
seed to soft soil contact, lime segments, fertilizer segments,
animal manure programs, soil fertility properties, organic
planting techniques, rotation of weed seed segments and on
top of it all, 12 bonus hunts for bursts of exciting entertainment.
It's instructional, informational, and entertaining.
This DVD
is the "nuts and bolts" of food plot planting at
its best. Filmed from multiple camera angles, you will learn
everything from; the proper creation of small Hot Spot plots
tucked back in the timber, installed using standard garden
tools. To planting half acre plots using ATV implements. To
creating larger plots with three-point hitch tractor equipment,
all the way up to 75 hp tractors; four-bottom plows and 12-foot
transport disks. Not only does it detail everything on planting
food plots for whitetail, but you will see the creation of
a four-acre waterfowl pond and learn how to produce your own
waterfowl sanctuary on your property. Literally, large to
small this DVD covers it all.

REMINGTON
TO CLOSE H&R 1871 PLANT
Remington
Arms Company, Inc. announced a strategic manufacturing consolidation
move that will result in the closure of its Gardner, Massachusetts
plant . This integration will be seamless and will not affect
customers or product offerings.
"While
it was a difficult decision to close Gardner, we believe that
this consolidation will enhance our ability to more efficiently
provide quality products at competitive prices in an increasingly
demanding global marketplace." said Tommy Millner, Remington's
Chief Executive Officer. "We are always looking for ways
to strengthen and optimize our business in order to stay competitive,
while also creating additional opportunities for our employees
and better products for customers. Our number one goal is
to provide our customers and end-users with the best, most
innovative products at a competitive price. Consolidation
of manufacturing capabilities and migration to common operating
systems are expected to create efficiencies that will achieve
this goal."
Throughout
the remainder of 2008, the integration of Gardner's operations
is expected to result in centralized sales and marketing,
streamlined operations, standardized information technology
infrastructure, and common financial functionality while vigorously
maintaining and promoting individual brand identity and products.
Unfortunately,
an estimated 200 Gardner employees will be impacted by the
closure, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
A number of employees will transition from Gardner to other
capacities within the Company. For those not transferred,
the Company will be offering severance, outplacement, and
referral services in order to assist in this difficult transition.
Pizza
Hunt Punishes Employee for Defending Himself - Let Pizza Hunt
Know What You Think!
On the
night of March 27, 2008, Pizza Hut deliveryman James Spiers
of Des Moines, Iowa was delivering pizzas--just as he had
many times before over the past 10 years. He walked into an
apartment complex thinking he was making another routine delivery,
but found himself in a battle for his life: he had been set
up by a "customer" who had lured him into the complex
by pretending to order the pizza over the phone, but who had
an armed accomplice waiting in ambush.
Spiers soon found himself trapped in a hallway with a gun
to his head, his assailant demanding money. "Without
a doubt," he said, "my life was in extreme danger."
The thug (who, not surprisingly, has a long list of prior
arrests) thought he had the upper hand. Fortunately, Mr. Spiers
has a valid concealed carry permit, and was carrying a pistol
for personal protection at the time of the attack. He struggled
with his attacker and managed to draw his own firearm. He
shot the assailant, who fled the scene but was later arrested
after he sought medical treatment.
Unfortunately,
that's not the end of the story. As a result of his actions,
Mr. Spiers, a single father trying to make an honest living,
was suspended from his job by his employer, Pizza Hut. That's
right. A man who, as a result of doing his job, was forced
into a life-threatening situation, defended himself, and whose
actions helped take a career criminal off the street, was
deprived of his livelihood. Pizza Hut suspended James Spiers
for defending his life.
Vonnie
Walbert, vice president of human resources at Pizza Hut, said,
"We have a policy against carrying weapons. We prohibit
employees from carrying guns because we believe that that
is the safest for everybody."
"Safest
for everybody?" This inane policy certainly makes things
safer for criminals, like the one who attacked Spiers. But
it does nothing to aid the safety of Pizza Hut's employees.
Every night, hardworking deliverymen and women must do their
job in potentially dangerous areas. In fact, their jobs are
statistically among the most dangerous in the nation. Yet
Pizza Hut would deprive them of self-protection.
Thankfully,
people are taking notice. Spiers has said that he has been
"overwhelmed by support from people who cheered what
happened," including Iowa state senator Brad Zaun (R-32),
who noted, "If I was in a situation to protect my family,
protect myself, to continue being a father, I would've done
the same thing. What I want everybody to know
is that
there [are] people out there supporting this man and his right
to defend himself. I'm going to be watching Pizza Hut."
To voice
your outrage over Pizza Hut's disciplinary decision, please

or by e-mail at this webpage: http://www.pizzahut.com/contactus/ContactUsForm.aspx?l1=2024.

National
Shooting Sports Foundation Awards Grants to 12 States
A Record $724,980 Earmarked for Hunter Recruitment and Retention
For the
sixth consecutive year, the National Shooting Sports Foundation
(NSSF) has announced grants to states for projects designed
to enlist new hunters, and retain existing ones.
"These
grants were awarded on the strengths of the concepts presented
to preserve our hunting traditions, by adding to the ranks
of hunters and encouraging current hunters to continue their
participation," said Doug Painter, president of NSSF.
The 2008
Hunting Heritage Partnership grants include an increase of
$250,000 over last year, thanks to a new partnership with
Safari Club International. To date, the program has contributed
more than $2.8 million to state agencies.
This year's
grant recipients include:
Florida
Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission--$64,400
Project: To increase hunting activity in Florida by large
numbers of state residents who have been hunting in states
other than Florida. Research will identify residents who have
been hunting out of state and why, and attempt to convince
them to hunt in Florida through a directed marketing effort.
Idaho
Department of Fish and Game--$153,000
Project: To obtain access to additional land for hunters by
providing various types of compensation to landowners in the
form of services, and to recruit new landowners into the Access
Yes! program.
Indiana
Department of Natural Resources--$62,000
Project: To reactivate a group of lapsed hunters that will
be targeted with the implementation of a direct mail marketing
and advertising campaign.
Maryland
Department of Natural Resources--$16,500
Project: To offer two mentored youth hunts, providing a positive
hunting experience and allowing the youngsters to interact
with wildlife managers and conservation officers, who will
communicate the importance of hunting both as recreation and
as a game management tool.
Mississippi
Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks
The state received grants for two separate projects.
Project #1--$77,755
A direct mail program to encourage prior hunting license holders
to re-enter the ranks of active hunters through license purchases.
Also, it will encourage current license holders to investigate
access to public hunting land and urge veteran hunters to
act as mentors for new hunters.
Project #2--$45,000
Recruitment of new hunters and hunters who have left the sport
by providing dove hunting opportunities on privately owned
dove fields.
Montana
Fish, Wildlife and Parks--$61,700
Project: A program designed to identify lapsed Montana big-game
hunters most likely to return to hunting and to induce their
participation, as measured by license purchases in 2008. Also
the program will identify current Montana hunters predisposed
to lapsing out of hunting and reduce their rate of doing so
in 2008.
Nevada
Department of Wildlife--$56,125
Project: A campaign to persuade hunters who have unsuccessfully
applied for a big-game tag to purchase a hunting license and
participate in under-utilized hunts for both big and small
game. This will be accomplished through a direct marketing
program.
New Hampshire
Fish and Game Department--$20,000
Project: To develop a landowner incentive program that will
provide the ability to secure and maintain hunting access
to 100,000 acres of private land by December 31, 2012.
Oklahoma
Department of Wildlife Conservation--$21,000
Project: To conduct a direct mail campaign aimed at encouraging
former hunters to pick up the sport again and purchase a hunting
license in 2008.
South
Carolina Department of Natural Resources--$92,500
Project: Attempt to reactivate lapsed hunters through an integrated
mix of paid advertising, direct mail, electronic communication,
media relations, events and other grass roots activities.
Tennessee
Wildlife Resources Agency--$30,000
Project: A program to increase small-game hunting participation
on private land in Tennessee, through a small-game hunter-access
cooperative effort with landowners.
Wyoming
Game and Fish Department--$25,000
Project: To maintain and enhance the department's Private
Lands Public Access Program for hunting through enrolling
private landowners into either a Walk-in Hunting or Hunter
Management Area Program.

Birchwood
Casey® shoots new life into Shoot·N·C ®
Reactive Target lineup
Birchwood
Casey, the leader in reactive targets - including their popular
Shoot·N·C products, has added fluorescent red
aiming points to its extensive line of targets. The addition
of the aiming point is the result of meeting the growing demand
of shooting enthusiasts who require more target visibility
when using optics. The bright red aiming point provides a
contrasting color for open sights and also for crosshairs
found in modern optics. An added benefit is that the new aiming
dot also creates great contrast for laser and red dot scopes.
Just like
the rest of the target face, the center aiming point will
also "react" in a manner that allows the shooter
to see exactly where their shot hit - instantly, and without
the need for a bulky spotting scope.
Shoot·N·C
Targets also come with repair "pasters" on each
target sheet. Pasters allow the shooter to extend the life
of their target by "repairing", or covering up existing
bullet holes on the target so that they can be reused - giving
the shooting enthusiast 20% more shots taken per target, and
more value per target!

Michael
Waddell to Chair National Hunting and Fishing Day
Outdoor television star Michael Waddell has been selected
as honorary chairman for this year's National Hunting and
Fishing Day, set for Sept. 27.
In the volunteer role, Waddell becomes the official spokesman
for the annual commemoration's key message: Conservation succeeds
only because of America's 34 million hunters and anglers.
In fact, through license fees and excise taxes, hunters and
anglers generate $100,000 every 30 minutes for fish, wildlife
and habitat programs.
"I'm
so humbled to be named honorary chair. National Hunting and
Fishing Day has such a great tradition. And it's awesome to
be able to make a difference in the lives of people who love
to hunt and fish just like I do," said Waddell.
"Michael's
surging popularity with youths, women, men -- hunters and
non-hunters alike -- make him an ideal person to carry the
torch for National Hunting and Fishing Day," said Denise
Wagner, coordinator for Wonders of Wildlife museum.
The museum
is the official home of National Hunting and Fishing Day,
with sponsorship from the National Shooting Sports Foundation
(NSSF), Bass Pro Shops, The Sportsman Channel, National Wild
Turkey Federation, Realtree, Cabela's, Woolrich, GunBroker.com
and Safari Club International.
Wonders of Wildlife is the only hunting- and fishing-focused
museum affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution and accredited
by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.
Waddell,
of Woodbury (better known as Booger Bottom), Ga., hosts two
outdoor TV shows including "Realtree Road Trips,"
a perennial fan favorite. Waddell's hunting knowledge, fresh
perspective and sense of humor keep this reality-style show
fast-paced, energetic, edgy and funny. Upward ratings show
more and more viewers who never before considered collecting
their own venison are being drawn alongside veteran hunters
toward the magnetic host.
Waddell
shares his love of the outdoors with wife Ashley and their
four children, Mason, Meyer, Woods Macoy and Audrey Mackay.
At the urging of NSSF, Congress formalized National Hunting
and Fishing Day in 1971 as a way to recognize hunters, anglers
and conservation. Every U.S. President from Richard M. Nixon
through George W. Bush, as well as Congressmen, governors
and mayors across the country, has proclaimed their support.
It's one of the most effective grassroots campaigns ever undertaken
to promote traditional outdoor sports.
Previous
honorary chairs include Jeff Foxworthy, Tracy Byrd, Wade Boggs,
Ward Burton, Hank Williams Jr., Terry Bradshaw and many others.
More
Proof That Americans Support The Right To Keep And Bear Arms
From our friends at the National Rifle Association Institute
For Legislative Action
Need more confirmation that a majority of Americans support
the Right to Keep and Bear Arms? Look no further than the
results of a Gallup poll, which were reported in a March 27,
Gallup.com article. The poll found that an overwhelming majority
of the United States public-- 73% -- believes that the Second
Amendment guarantees the right of Americans to own firearms.
For regular
readers of the Grassroots Alert, the findings come as no surprise.
In fact, the Gallup poll reflects comparable results from
a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation telephone poll carried
out December 6-9, 2007, which found that 65% of Americans
believe the Constitution guarantees the Right to Keep and
Bear Arms.
Other
recent polls have shown that Americans support gun rights.
A Zogby International poll for Associated Television News,
conducted December 13-17, 2007 found 27% of voters would be
more likely to support a candidate endorsed by NRA (through
its PAC, NRA Political Victory Fund). That survey showed that
NRA ranks above Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, the AFL-CIO,
Oprah Winfrey, and Barbara Streisand in influencing voters!
And another Zogby International poll conducted earlier in
2007 found that 66% of the American voting public rejects
the idea that new gun control laws are needed.
The results
of this latest poll make clear where the majority of Americans
stand, and confirm what other polls have consistently shown:
Americans overwhelmingly support firearm rights and ownership.
The
Original Winchester Name is Back
The Morgan, Utah based makers of Winchester rifles and shotguns
have announced the historic return to the original name given
the brand nearly 150 years ago. In 1866 Oliver Winchester
named his company - and the brand of rifles he was selling
- Winchester Repeating Arms. Going forward all Winchester
branded sporting firearms will fall under the Winchester Repeating
Arms banner.
In the
mid 20th century the usage was often shortened to just "Winchester."
In recent years reference to Winchester firearms fell under
the umbrella brand of Winchester Rifles and Shotguns. Today,
with the launching of the 2008 product line, including the
new Model 70 and the entry of the new Speed Pump shotgun,
it is fitting for the company to return to its roots. Other
Winchester Repeating Arms products include the Super X3 autoloading
shotgun (known for its extreme speed and reliability), the
Super X Rifle (an autoloading centerfire rifle with impressive,
bolt action-like accuracy), the Wildcat 22 bolt action, and
the impressive line of Model 101 and Platinum over and under
shotguns (made in Belgium).
The Winchester
brand is licensed to the makers of Winchester firearms by
the Olin Corporation. Olin is the owner of the legendary Winchester
Ammunition brand and owns and licenses the brand to a number
of quality companies who make hunting and shooting related
products. Winchester Repeating Arms and Winchester Ammunition
are the anchor brands for the Winchester family of products.
Wildlife
Research Center® celebrates 25th Anniversary!
Thanks to all of the hunters who use Wildlife® products!
Wildlife
Research Center® inc., makers of genuine Wildlife Research
Center® hunting scents, human scent elimination products,
and hunting scent dispensers, started business in 1983 with
the idea of offering performance oriented products to hunters.
2008 marks their 25th anniversary.
Trail's
End #307®, their first product introduced in 1983 was
a total breakthrough as a whitetailattractor scent. It proved
itself extremely effective at bringing in whitetail bucks.
As a start-up company, Wildlife® only sold a couple hundred
bottles that first year. As the years went by, more and more
hunters discovered Trail's End #307® and because it works
to well, it eventually became one of the most popular buck
lures in America.
It has
been a long hard road, but it's been exciting and satisfying.
Offering new and better products. Improving on existing products
already in the market. Coming out with better ways to use
products and helping hunters to be more effective in the field.
Wildlife®
is not one of those companies that has changed hands. Most
of the people who work at Wildlife® have been there for
many years. The people at Wildlife® work extremely hard
at delivering the best possible products to their customers
- hunters. Because of the quality, performance, and the way
they do business, Wildlife® stands behind all of their

Woolrich
to Sponsor National Hunting & Fishing Day
Woolrich,
a perennial supporter of National Hunting and Fishing Day,
has again come aboard as a major sponsor of the annual commemoration
set for Sept. 27.
At the
urging of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF),
Congress formalized the day in 1972 to acknowledge the conservation
achievements of hunters and anglers.
The new
sponsorship from Woolrich provides vital support for Wonders
of Wildlife museum, the official home and national organizer
of National Hunting and Fishing Day. The Springfield, Mo.,
facility is the only hunting- and fishing-focused museum that's
both affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution and accredited
by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.
"Woolrich
is proud to once again be associated with this celebration
of conservation through hunting and fishing," said Tim
Joseph, Woolrich director of marketing and media. "As
a company with a rich heritage in the outdoors, Woolrich applauds
the efforts of those who support the recreation and conservation
that come from hunting and fishing."
Wonders
of Wildlife also receives major sponsorship from NSSF, Bass
Pro Shops, The Sportsman Channel, National Wild Turkey Federation,
Realtree and Cabela's.
"Woolrich's
generosity will help us continue to offer free tools and promotional
items for National Hunting and Fishing Day event planners,
and renew our special campaign to encourage more nationwide
media coverage of hunting, fishing and conservation,"
said Denise Wagner, event coordinator for Wonders of Wildlife.
Today,
through fees and excise taxes, over 34 million hunters and
anglers generate $100,000 every 30 minutes for fish, wildlife
and habitat programs.

T.R. Michels
of Trinity Mountain Outdoors is conducting an extensive white-tailed
deer hunter's survey. The stated purpose of T.R.' s survey
is to find out how much deer hunters really know about the
biology and behavior of deer, and how, when and where they
hunt.
T.R. is
hoping this survey will help him provide whitetail hunters
with better information about deer behavior and productive

Lasergrips®
for Smith & Wesson Compact M&P Pistols
Crimson
Trace has developed a revolutionary new set of Lasergrips
for the Smith & Wesson M&P compact pistols. The LG-661
fits the compact M&P chambered in .40 S&W, 9mm and
the.357 SIG caliber of pistols. Suggested retail price is
$329.00.
The compact
LG-661 is as unique in design as the full-size version it
mirrors, the LG-660. It replaces the stock M&P back strap
grip insert and slides into place in just a few seconds using
existing factory parts. It is instinctively activated by a
pressure switch built into the backstrap of the polymer Lasergrip.
Simply grasping the firearm in a normal shooting grip activates
the laser. All electrical components fit into the Lasergrip,
which is the same size and shape of the original M&P medium
sized back strap.
There
are two #2032 batteries located in the palm swell on the sides
of the Lasergrips, providing over 4 hours of a constant-on
beam time. The master switch is also located on the backstrap
and uses a new touch sensor switch versus a mechanical switch
as found on other Lasergrips. This allows the user to turn
the unit on or off even while using gloves. Users simply press
and hold the recessed pressure switch to turn the power on
or off. The texture of the unit is almost identical to the
stock S&W grip. Rubber overmolding on the backstrap covers
the master on/off switch and the activation button, providing
improved grip while shooting. This fully integrated laser
sighting system is another Crimson Trace first in the marketplace.
Another
feature of the LG-661 is that it uses a smaller 3.3mm diameter
laser diode versus the standard 5.6mm diameter diode that
is found in most all other brands of laser sighting devices.
This results in a lower profile diode housing and a laser
that emits the same brightness as one almost twice its size.
As with all other Lasergrips, the LG-661 has both windage
and elevation adjustments for shooters to make adjustments
on their own. All Lasergrips come with an accessory pack that
contains batteries, hex wrenches for laser adjustments, |
